Senior Epic Data Acquisition Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee client-focused Epic data acquisition projects from start to finish

• Collaborate with client stakeholders to determine necessary data and outline extraction strategies

• Work alongside client Epic teams to secure access, finalize extraction techniques, and eliminate obstacles

• Travel to client health system locations for on-site data collection, discovery meetings, and issue resolution

• Facilitate coordination among client IT, Epic/informatics, and operations teams

• Act as the key on-site technical liaison during client engagements

• Design and manage Epic data extraction utilizing Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Epic Bridges, HL7 v2, FHIR R4, and SMART on FHIR

• Define and document specifications for interfaces and reports for required data feeds and HL7 messages

• Map Epic data specific to clients to VytlOne’s canonical data model and maintain the data input matrix

• Develop reusable extraction patterns, onboarding documentation, and team standards

• Lead validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance checks prior to hand-off to platform and analytics teams

• Serve as a senior escalation point for intricate integration challenges

• Ensure adherence to HIPAA, BAAs, minimum necessary principles, and HRSA 340B regulations

• Coordinate secure connectivity and PGP-encrypted SFTP with client IT and security

• Collaborate with data platform, analytics, 340B business teams, and external partners

• Mentor mid-level analysts and evaluate specifications and extraction designs

• Participate in estimation, planning, and status updates

• Acquire comprehensive knowledge of client data flows and identify opportunities for enhancement


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent experience

• 5+ years of relevant experience with Epic in a health system, health IT, integration, or vendor role

• Experience in a client-facing or consulting role leading on-site engagements and fostering customer relationships

• Proficient in extracting Epic data using Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, and Epic Bridges

• Strong background in HL7 v2, including ADT, SIU, ORM/ORU, and REF; FHIR R4; and SMART on FHIR

• Experience delivering file-based data feeds via PGP-encrypted SFTP

• Proven ability to gather requirements and coordinate data extraction with external client technical teams

• Familiarity with Epic’s Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle data models

• Experience in translating source data to a target or canonical data model

• Knowledge of healthcare data and a solid understanding of PHI handling under HIPAA and BAAs

• Advanced SQL skills for data extraction, profiling, and validation

• Experience leading or mentoring analysts and establishing technical standards

• Proven track record of delivering data or integration projects using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

• Capable of developing data flow, interface, application, and integration diagrams

• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills

• Exceptional client-facing and consultative abilities

• Experience in creating detailed reports and delivering presentations

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

• Strong experience in data validation, user testing, and project coordination

• Outstanding planning, organizational, and time management skills

• Experience in leading, developing, and engaging in high-performing teams

• Experience with Epic Willow pharmacy data is a plus

• Strongly preferred experience with the 340B program and/or specialty pharmacy data

• Epic certification is preferred; VytlOne will sponsor certification for qualified candidates

• Experience with Azure Cloud projects is advantageous

• Familiarity with JIRA and ServiceNow is desirable
