This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee the visual aesthetic, quality benchmarks, and reference criteria for all levels within Kaiju Cleanup.
• Provide guidance to the Environment Art team regarding environment workflows, including modularity, trim sheets, and procedural generation methods.
• Assess the environment asset list and approve completed environment projects.
• Create and texture modular building kits, key props, and various other assets.
• Construct, set-dress, and refine high-quality 3D environments while adhering to performance limitations.
• Utilize Unity to configure materials, build prototype block-outs, and incorporate final art assets.
• Integrate Kaiju into environments and collaborate with Character Art and Design on conceptual and technical challenges.
• Partner with VFX and Lighting teams to harmonize environments and lighting with the overall visual vision.
• Work alongside Design to ensure environments align with gameplay mechanics, UI needs, and Kaiju interactions.
• Collaborate with Production to prioritize asset lists and schedules, addressing any obstacles as necessary.
• Team up with the Technical team to guarantee optimal performance of environments and suitable optimizations.
• A portfolio showcasing high-quality environment work on at least one released PC/Console title.
• Expert-level proficiency in industry-standard 3D software, such as Blender or 3ds Max.
• Comprehensive knowledge of PBR workflows; experience with Substance Suite is preferred.
• Significant experience working directly within Unity, including Prefab management and ProBuilder or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Unity’s Universal Render Pipeline (URP), or the ability to swiftly adapt from Unreal experience.
• Strong understanding of composition, color theory, and lighting principles.
• Enthusiasm for contributing to a small indie game development team.
• Experience in managing draw calls, LODs, and texture atlasing is advantageous.
• Capability to adjust lighting within Unity is a plus.
• Proficiency in using tools such as Houdini is a bonus.
