This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Dakota.
• Collaborates with business and technology leaders to establish the direction of enterprise architecture and ensure that significant initiatives enhance business process performance, maintain platform coherence, and support long-term scalability.
• Defines and manages enterprise architecture standards, guardrails, and exception processes in conjunction with the VP of Digital Transformation, CIO, Security, and domain leaders.
• Provides strategic thought leadership on modern architectural principles, technology modernization, and enterprise-wide architectural coherence.
• Assesses SaaS platforms, vendors, and key solution designs for capability alignment, integration complexity, identity and data considerations, scalability, total cost of ownership, and long-term portfolio alignment.
• Develops and sustains architectural artifacts—including logical, business, integration, and functional diagrams—to assist engineering, applications, and security teams.
• Establishes enterprise transition roadmaps for ERP, integration, data, analytics, and related platforms, focusing on clean core principles, reduction of technical debt, and sequencing of delivery.
• Facilitates architecture reviews and provides recommendations for major initiatives, platform modifications, new technologies, and cross-domain designs, ensuring compliance with approved guardrails.
• Advises senior leadership on trade-offs related to reuse, scalability, complexity, risk, technical debt, and long-term enterprise compatibility.
• Converts current capability states into future architecture and roadmap decisions in collaboration with business, process, and domain leaders.
• Establishes and governs ERP architecture guardrails for SAP modernization, including clean core principles, boundaries for extensibility, and integration constraints.
• Defines and oversees enterprise integration standards, encompassing API-first patterns, event-driven architecture, canonical data principles, observability, resilience, and lifecycle management.
• Sets enterprise standards for master data ownership, stewardship models, domain boundaries, and governance mechanisms, while supporting reliable analytics, certified KPIs, and semantic consistency.
• Operates a swift, documented architecture decision and exception process, ensuring that governance remains efficient, practical, and focused on delivery.
• Establishes architecture criteria for application portfolio rationalization, integration simplification, and visibility of technical debt, influencing build/buy/reuse decisions through a business capability and enterprise value perspective.
• Leads a federated architecture operating model and Architecture Center of Excellence (CoE), enhancing architecture quality across domains through early engagement, coaching, and cross-functional alignment.
• A 4-Year STEM Degree or equivalent work experience is required.
• Over 12 years of progressive experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or platform architecture, with significant cross-domain responsibilities.
• Proven experience in shaping enterprise architecture decisions across ERP, integration, applications, and data.
• Demonstrated success in guiding ERP modernization or large enterprise platform transformations in complex operating environments.
• Strong expertise in modern integration patterns, including APIs, event-driven architecture, service reuse, observability, and lifecycle management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of data architecture, master data governance concepts, and enabling analytics.
• Proven capability to define architecture standards and decision-making processes that expedite delivery rather than hinder it.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to link architecture decisions to operating models, risk, cost, and growth outcomes.
• Experience in wholesale distribution, industrial distribution, manufacturing distribution, or other branch-heavy, inventory-intensive, multi-site businesses.
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA environments and clean-core governance.
• Experience working within a federated architecture model alongside domain architects or embedded architecture leadership.
• Familiarity with post-merger integration patterns, portfolio rationalization, or enterprise platform simplification.
• Knowledge of formal architecture frameworks and structured architecture description methods; practical outcomes are prioritized over certification alone.
