Senior Engineering Manager – Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Lead and motivate a high-performing team: You will directly oversee 2–3 cross-functional squads (8 to 15 engineers), fostering a high-trust environment where talent can flourish. This is a leadership role focused on providing clear direction, establishing robust team rituals, and sustaining high morale and engagement.

• Collaborate on product and technical strategy: Work closely with the Product Director and Design Lead to jointly develop the long-term vision for the Compliance domain. You will convert complex regulatory requirements into a seamless user experience, ensuring that security measures do not compromise platform usability. Together, you will navigate technical debt, innovative features, and critical roadmap priorities to maximize value for our users.

• Elevate delivery and engineering excellence: Take ownership of the delivery lifecycle by establishing and monitoring KPIs for velocity and quality. You will refine the art of balancing rapid delivery with long-term architectural integrity. By aligning team output with company strategy, you will ensure that every engineering effort yields maximum impact and scalability.

• Knowledge enhancer: You will also participate in the Engineering Manager Guild to disseminate best practices and strategic frameworks throughout the organization.

• Manage our compliance ecosystem: You will serve as the primary technical liaison for our external partners, including PSPs and legal data providers. You will guarantee smooth integration, operational reliability, and long-term scalability in this essential area of Malt’s product.

⛳️ Requirements

• Hands-on Manager: You maintain your “technical mentorship” through code reviews and architecture discussions. You likely possess a solid backend foundation (preferably in Java/Kotlin) and have a passion for engineering excellence.

• Systems Thinker: You excel in fast-paced, dynamic environments and are adept at managing technical migrations or structural changes without losing sight of the mission.

• Experience in the Compliance Domain: You have extensive experience in scaling compliance or fintech systems. You understand the unique challenges of high-security environments and know how to navigate them without hindering progress.

• Strategic Risk Manager: You are comfortable operating at the intersection of technology and regulation. You know how to make high-impact decisions that safeguard the business while facilitating product growth.

• Effective Communicator: Fluent in English (French is an advantage), you can simplify complex technical or AI concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels.

• Tech-savvy: You stay informed about emerging technologies, particularly in AI. While you don't need to be an expert, you're eager to explore how it can enhance your team's ability to deliver more value, more quickly.
