
Senior Engineer – Thermal Mechanical Analysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Responsible for conducting thermal-mechanical design analyses of fuel rods to ensure their mechanical integrity.
• Execute coupled heat transfer and finite element mechanical analyses for fuel rod pellets and cladding.
• Work in collaboration with experts in fuel mechanical design, material science, and nuclear/thermal-hydraulic analysis.
• Define thermal mechanical operating limits for both new and existing fuel product lines.
• Aid in assessing fuel behavior during generic and plant-specific transient analyses.
• Analyze operational and test data, utilizing it to enhance modeling and methodologies.
• Maintain and further develop the fuel performance code.
• Deliver well-structured and clearly documented engineering analyses to ensure design adequacy.
• Present findings to both internal and external stakeholders, including nuclear regulators, regarding fuel performance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in a technology or engineering role.
• At least 4 years of experience in thermal-mechanical or nuclear fuel analysis.
• Master's Degree or higher in an engineering field from an accredited college or university (preferred).
• Previous knowledge or experience in the nuclear industry (preferred).
• Familiarity with preparing submittals to the NRC (preferred).
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and capability to conduct complex engineering analyses resulting in comprehensive documentation (preferred).
• Proficiency in Python and FORTRAN.
• Must be eligible to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government (mandatory).
