This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya, +4 more countries.
• Design and develop internal tools, packages, and abstractions that streamline self-service options for engineers while minimizing infrastructure complexity and operational burdens.
• Construct, manage, and enhance automated CI/CD pipelines from code commit to production deployment.
• Manage and optimize Oyster’s AWS infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code, prioritizing scalability, availability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement SRE principles, observability, and incident management strategies to mitigate outages and expedite recovery processes.
• Discover and integrate AI, automation, and intelligent tools to boost developer efficiency and automate operational tasks.
• Transform internal engineering challenges into scalable platform solutions while continuously enhancing developer experience based on feedback and metrics.
• Work collaboratively with application, security, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot problems, assist in incident response, and ensure reliable and secure software operations.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or a comparable production engineering role.
• Robust software development background in creating maintainable automation, tools, and platform abstractions.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and managing production systems on AWS.
• Strong grasp of Infrastructure as Code, ideally with Terraform or similar technologies.
• Practical experience in constructing and managing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and production debugging using tools like Datadog, Sentry, or equivalent solutions.
• Solid understanding of reliability, incident response, and operational best practices.
• A platform-oriented mindset aimed at reducing the cognitive load on internal engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in remote, asynchronous engineering settings.
• Experience in building or enhancing internal developer platforms, golden paths, or self-service infrastructure.
• Experience utilizing AI coding assistants, agents, or AI-driven developer tools.
• Proficiency with Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with Harness, Drone, or other contemporary CI/CD platforms.
• Familiarity with automating Heroku, Render, or similar application platforms via Terraform or scripted workflows.
• Experience enhancing macOS and Linux developer environments through automation and tooling.
• Background in working within remote-first, globally distributed teams.
• Reliable home internet connection, or ability to secure one.
• Fluent English language skills.
