Senior Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Develop scalable, maintainable, and secure service architectures.

• Recognize opportunities for platform-wide enhancements, new service creation, and minimizing technical debt.

• Contribute to the long-term vision of the platform and assist in establishing standards for engineering excellence.

• Engage in long-term architectural strategy and system design.

• Create backend services using C# within a Functional Programming paradigm or TypeScript for web and background worker applications.

• Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases; expertise in PostgreSQL is preferred.

• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and Infrastructure as Code.

• Apply security best practices throughout applications and infrastructure (secure coding, vulnerability assessments, secrets management).

• Persistently enhance the codebase by maintaining high standards for code reviews, architecture, testing, and deployment.

• Serve as the primary expert for debugging, troubleshooting, and ensuring system reliability.

• Develop as a technical mentor to amplify team impact by enhancing the skills and practices of peers and junior engineers.

• Collaborate within your team and with cross-functional teams to define requirements, scope projects, and deliver platform solutions.

• Work closely with stakeholders to debug, troubleshoot, and resolve intricate backend issues across the stack.

• Contribute to engineering culture by exemplifying ownership, accountability, and a growth mindset.

• Mentor and nurture junior engineers through coaching, pairing, and constructive feedback.

• Advocate for engineering best practices, elevating the standards for technical excellence across the team.

• Exhibit emotional intelligence and resilience, fostering trust and inspiring growth in others.

• Remain updated on emerging technologies in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and secure software practices.

• Keep abreast of new technologies, frameworks, and architectures.

• Promote Agile best practices and assist in refining team workflows (Scrum).

• Share insights on industry trends and competitor strategies to influence product and engineering direction.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–10 years of progressive software engineering experience (leadership experience required).

• Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary software development practices and architectures.

• Proficiency or the ability to quickly adapt to typed, functional programming in C# or TypeScript.

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, with a preference for PostgreSQL expertise.

• Background in system architecture, designing secure, scalable, and maintainable platforms.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS (or equivalent cloud solutions).

• Strong understanding of DevOps practices (Git, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code).

• Expertise in application and infrastructure security best practices.

• Solid grasp of testing and automation methodologies.

• Experience in performance optimization for reliability and scalability.

• A keen interest in AI/ML applications within production systems.

• Proven experience navigating ambiguous, complex problem environments with strong problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and project delivery.

• Outstanding communication skills, with the capability to convey technical concepts to various audiences.

• Strategic problem-solving skills with the flexibility to adapt in rapidly changing environments.
