Senior Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and secure service architectures.

• Recognize opportunities for platform-wide enhancements, development of new services, and minimizing technical debt.

• Contribute to the long-term vision of the platform and help establish standards for engineering excellence.

• Develop backend services using C# in a Functional Programming style or TypeScript for web and background worker applications.

• Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases; expertise in PostgreSQL is preferred.

• Implement and oversee CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and Infrastructure as Code practices.

• Apply security best practices across applications and infrastructure, including secure coding, vulnerability assessments, and secrets management.

• Continuously enhance the codebase by maintaining high standards for code reviews, architecture, testing, and deployment.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers through coaching, pairing, and constructive feedback.

• Collaborate with your team and cross-functional teams to define requirements, project scope, and deliver platform solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–10 years of progressive experience in software engineering, including leadership roles.

• Comprehensive understanding of modern software development practices and architectures.

• Proficient or capable of quickly adapting to typed, functional programming in C# or TypeScript.

• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, with a preference for PostgreSQL expertise.

• Background in system architecture, focusing on secure, scalable, and maintainable platforms.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS (or equivalent cloud technologies).

• Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including Git, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.

• Expertise in security best practices for applications and infrastructure.

• Solid grasp of testing and automation methodologies.

• Proven track record of working in complex, ambiguous problem spaces with strong problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban, and project delivery.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
