This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead civil and structural engineering efforts for multiple simultaneous high-voltage substation projects.
• Provide civil and structural engineering design as well as construction support for assigned initiatives.
• Engage with clients and external entities regarding technical matters.
• Offer technical assistance and direction to designers, engineers, and project managers.
• Aid in the establishment of engineering standards.
• Supervise engineering calculations and studies, reviewing the outcomes.
• Conduct civil and structural engineering calculations and designs for substations in collaboration with subcontractors, engineers, and designers.
• Create finite element structural models, steel design calculations, connections, and anchor rod designs.
• Generate structural design and fabrication drawings alongside designers.
• Produce reinforced-concrete foundation calculations and foundation design drawings.
• Develop site-work drawings that include embankment preparation, drainage, and erosion control measures.
• Coordinate design challenges with clients and vendors through meetings and conferences.
• Maintain engineering documentation and records.
• Collaborate with purchasing and quality-control teams.
• Provide specifications and necessary information for equipment procurement.
• Review vendor submissions.
• Work with contract administration to fulfill client requirements.
• Contribute to the professional development of less experienced engineers and designers.
• A Professional Engineering license in one or more U.S. states is required.
• A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in at least two of the following areas: foundation design, structural steel design, or transmission-level substations (13.8kV–500 kV).
• Capability to carry out tasks from a leadership position.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently within a team environment.
• Familiarity with engineering theories and principles.
• Competence in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making informed recommendations, and preparing and presenting those recommendations.
• Problem-solving abilities in time-sensitive scenarios.
• Proficiency in intermediate AutoCAD 2015 or later.
• Intermediate skills in MathCAD.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Project.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Advanced skills in RISA or other structural analysis/design software.
• Capability to lift or move equipment weighing up to 15 lbs.
• Willingness to travel, typically around 10% of the time.
• Approximately 10% travel requirement.
