Senior Employment Counsel – International Lifecycle

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the Legal workstream for sensitive, intricate, or escalated EOR lifecycle issues that necessitate Legal engagement.

• Act as the legal contact for complicated termination and offboarding situations requiring Legal involvement.

• Collaborate with regional employment counsel to convert local legal requirements into actionable guidance.

• Develop and uphold lifecycle standards, playbooks, escalation paths, controls, decision frameworks, and training materials.

• Provide counsel to Product and Operations regarding lifecycle legal obligations, risk parameters, workflow logic, case-management controls, customer-facing guidance, knowledge bases, and standard operating procedures.

• Keep track of lifecycle-related legal and operational changes across key markets and assist in updating internal guidance, training, and processes as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree and admitted to practice in at least one applicable jurisdiction.

• At least 5+ years of substantial employment law experience, ideally with in-house experience, international employment counseling, EOR, PEO, global mobility, HR technology, or other cross-border employment operations.

• Extensive experience in advising on employee lifecycle issues, including complex terminations, performance management, leave, employee relations, employment documentation, recurring compliance, and dispute risk across multiple jurisdictions.

• Strong comprehension of how employment-law requirements should be integrated into operational workflows, product specifications, customer guidance, and internal controls.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, capable of simplifying complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

• Fluent in English; proficiency in an additional relevant language is advantageous.
