This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Asia.
• Offer strategic and commercially viable guidance on employment law issues within the APAC region.
• Provide counsel on everyday employment matters related to Canva’s employee and contingent workforce, including performance management, separations, investigations, and regulatory concerns.
• Collaborate closely with People, Total Rewards, Finance, and other vital stakeholders to facilitate Canva’s growth and adapt to its evolving workforce model.
• Assist in the creation and execution of scalable employment frameworks, policies, processes, and guidance.
• Recognize and manage legal risks related to employment while supporting Canva’s growth and operational goals.
• Provide practical training and advice to People teams and business leaders.
• Work alongside Employment Legal colleagues globally on cross-border issues, strategic initiatives, and shared objectives.
• Oversee employment disputes, claims, and regulatory inquiries, collaborating with external counsel as necessary.
• Licensed to practice in Australia or a comparable jurisdiction.
• Over 8 years of post-qualification experience focusing on employment law, acquired in a prestigious law firm and/or an in-house legal team (preferably within the tech sector).
• Experience in multiple jurisdictions or within a multinational setting is highly valued.
• Extensive experience advising senior stakeholders on intricate employment and employee relations issues.
• Proven track record of balancing legal risks with commercial and personnel considerations.
• Excellent judgment and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, with a talent for translating complex legal concepts into actionable advice.
