Senior Electrical Engineer – Energy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Tasked with the design, development, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.

• Accountable for the comprehensive design and analysis of both safety and non-safety related electrical systems for nuclear and commercial projects.

• Frequently collaborates with other technical disciplines (mechanical, nuclear, operations, and electrical engineering teams) for electrical design and consultation.

• Utilizes extensive knowledge and experience, along with industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and sound engineering judgment to ensure compliance.

• Performs various engineering calculations employing both traditional and advanced engineering techniques.

• Creates and reviews wiring diagrams, single line drawings, and control philosophy documents.

• Specializes in the preparation of design documents and modifications for plants.

• Provides mentoring, guidance, and quality reviews of junior colleagues' work as necessary.

• Suggests new equipment, concepts, and methods to enhance performance, simplify design, reduce costs, and resolve design issues.

• Assists with the installation and testing of site systems and components.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical or engineering field is mandatory.

• At least 7 years of relevant experience is required.

• Experience in the nuclear industry is preferred.

• Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.

• A Master’s degree is preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

• In-depth knowledge and experience in electrical design are required.

• Experience leading electrical system design (e.g., on-site distribution (AC and DC), off-site interfaces (switchyard), grounding and lighting protection, plant lighting systems, battery system design, communications systems, or diesel generators).

• Increasing familiarity with nuclear regulatory guidance (e.g., NUREG-0800 Ch. 8).

• Experience with the application of relevant codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, EPRI).

• Must be a U.S. citizen to be considered.
