This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +6 more states.
• Assess, outline, and execute electrical systems for products alongside design engineers, adhering to NEC code and industry best practices.
• Evaluate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel configurations for new initiatives and system enhancements.
• Facilitate technical review meetings to ensure project alignment and compliance with safety standards.
• Act as the NEC code representative for the US market.
• Review designs for UL508A compliance and assist in the UL certification processes for electrical panels and equipment.
• Emphasize safety, efficiency, and reliability in electrical systems.
• Oversee multiple electrical engineering projects, ensuring they remain on schedule and within budget constraints.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, factories, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation.
• Create technical reports, project updates, and documentation for project completion.
• Design and implement electrical control systems that integrate PLCs, HMIs, and automation components.
• Provide support for the integration and troubleshooting of Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial communication protocols.
• Diagnose and enhance control systems to boost performance and minimize downtime.
• Mentor junior engineers through technical mentorship, training, and support for professional development.
• Work in collaboration with mechanical engineers, software developers, project managers, and other members of cross-functional teams.
• Represent the company as a subject matter expert in meetings with clients and industry partners.
• Stay updated on advancements in electrical engineering, NEC changes, and industry trends.
• Propose enhancements to systems and processes to improve efficiency, safety, and compliance.
• Lead cooperation between global and local strategy teams, the Mexico factory, and other international facilities, as well as Europe.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification required, demonstrating successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred; candidates with FE certification and less experience will be considered with the understanding that obtaining the PE is required.
• A minimum of 4 years of electrical engineering experience concentrating on NEC code, project management, and system design.
• Extensive knowledge of NEC, UL508A, and associated standards.
• Familiarity with industrial and building control protocols, including Modbus and BACnet.
• Strong project management abilities with a proven track record of handling multiple concurrent projects successfully.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to convey technical information clearly.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with automation and controls technology.
• Technical leadership experience is essential.
• Preferred: 7+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on NEC code, project management, and system design.
• Preferred proficiency in Modbus, BACnet, and Ethernet/IP.
• Preferred experience in power quality analysis, power factor correction, and harmonic distortion.
• Preferred familiarity with Microsoft Azure products and tools, including databases, IoT, and AI.
• Preferred experience with MQTT, API, and webhook networking protocols.
• Preferred experience with data analytics and data-driven development.
• Willingness to undertake occasional international travel to factories, as well as travel for significant client or internal meetings.
