This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +6 more states.
• Evaluate, specify, and execute electrical systems in collaboration with design engineers, adhering to NEC code and industry best practices.
• Analyze electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel configurations for new initiatives and system enhancements.
• Facilitate technical review meetings to ensure project alignment with requirements and safety regulations.
• Act as the NEC code authority for the US market.
• Assess designs for UL508A compliance and assist in the UL certification process.
• Emphasize the safety, efficiency, and reliability of electrical systems.
• Oversee and direct multiple electrical engineering projects, ensuring adherence to schedules and budget constraints.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, manufacturers, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Generate technical reports, project updates, and documentation for project completion.
• Design and implement electrical control systems that incorporate PLCs, HMIs, and automation components.
• Aid in the integration and troubleshooting of Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial communication standards.
• Diagnose and enhance control systems to boost performance and minimize downtime.
• Guide junior engineers through technical mentorship, training, and career development.
• Work alongside mechanical engineers, software developers, project managers, and other interdisciplinary teams.
• Represent the company in meetings with clients and industry partners as a subject matter expert.
• Keep abreast of advancements in electrical engineering, updates to the NEC, and industry trends.
• Propose enhancements to systems and processes to augment efficiency, safety, and compliance.
• Lead and support collaboration between global and local strategy teams, including those in Mexico and European factories.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification is mandatory, demonstrating successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred; candidates with FE and less experience may be considered with an agreement to obtain PE.
• 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on NEC code, project management, and system design.
• Thorough understanding of NEC, UL508A, and associated standards.
• Knowledge of industrial and building control protocols, including Modbus and BACnet.
• Strong project management capabilities with a track record of managing multiple concurrent projects successfully.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to articulate technical information clearly to clients and team members.
• Capacity to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Familiarity with automation and controls technology.
• Experience in technical leadership.
• Preferred: 7+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on NEC code, project management, and system design.
• Preferred proficiency in Modbus, BACnet, and Ethernet/IP.
• Preferred experience in power quality analysis, power factor correction, and harmonic distortion.
• Preferred experience with Microsoft Azure products and tools, including databases, IoT, and AI.
• Preferred experience with MQTT, APIs, and webhooks.
• Preferred experience with data analytics and data-driven development.
• Willingness to undertake occasional international travel and travel for significant client or internal meetings when virtual attendance is not feasible.
