Senior Elasticsearch Engineer – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee the engineering efforts that support search functionality within our merchant dashboard.

• Create and implement a reliable, high-quality search solution.

• Collaborate effectively with the Product Engineering and Platform teams.

• Contribute code that is ready for production use.

• Prepare the team to sustain and enhance the system after your departure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in building and managing Elasticsearch clusters in production settings.

• Operational maturity — you design with observability from the beginning and possess the knowledge to monitor cluster health, as well as detect and address failures.

• Experience with cloud platforms — you have engaged with managed Elasticsearch deployments on a leading cloud provider and understand the implications of transitioning from self-managed infrastructure.

• A proven history of enhancing team capabilities — whether through documentation, code reviews, or targeted workshops, you simplify complex systems for engineers who will take over maintenance after your exit.

• Proficient programming skills in Ruby.
