Senior Elastic Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Oversee the architecture, design, and ongoing enhancement of enterprise Elastic environments.

• Establish and uphold best practices for scalability, resilience, lifecycle management, and operational excellence.

• Facilitate and refine platform strategies for high availability, retention, performance, and cost efficiency.

• Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex issues related to platforms, pipelines, and data.

• Design and oversee ingestion pipelines, data models, and normalization standards aligned with ECS.

• Construct and enhance advanced Logstash and ingest pipelines for high-volume and varied data sources.

• Lead extensive Elastic Agent and Fleet deployments for endpoint and observability applications.

• Integrate various security and observability telemetry sources while ensuring high data quality.

• Architect and optimize AWS-supported Elastic infrastructure, encompassing S3, compute, networking, IAM, and related cloud services.

• Create production-grade CI/CD pipelines.

• Utilize AWS services for snapshot strategies, retention, archival, and broader platform operations.

• Monitor and optimize expenses across compute, storage, ingestion, and retention.

• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration through infrastructure-as-code.

• Develop advanced Kibana dashboards, detection workflows, observability views, and executive reporting.

• Collaborate with detection engineering, infrastructure, and leadership teams to define requirements and set roadmap priorities.

• Identify chances to enhance detection coverage, platform reliability, and observability maturity.

• Mentor engineers, review technical designs, and contribute to the planning of the platform roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• Elastic Certified Engineer.

• Elastic Certified Observability Engineer.

• Over 5 years of practical experience with enterprise Elastic environments.

• Strong background in Elastic Security and Elastic Observability.

• Expert-level understanding of Elasticsearch architecture, including indexing, sharding, replication, search, and query performance.

• Proficiency in optimizing Elasticsearch templates and fine-tuning relevance.

• Demonstrated experience managing large, highly available Elasticsearch clusters in production settings.

• In-depth knowledge in capacity planning, cluster optimization, scaling, and platform hardening.

• Advanced skills in Elasticsearch Query DSL and search optimization.

• Strong programming and automation capabilities in Python, Java, Ruby, or similar languages.

• Proven background in cybersecurity with experience in threat detection, attack techniques, telemetry, and defensive operations.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Elastic security controls, including RBAC, encryption, detection rules, machine learning, and AI Assistant features.

• Extensive experience with data parsing, enrichment, and transformation utilizing GROK, DISSECT, Logstash, and Elasticsearch ingest pipelines.

• Experience with advanced detections, Watchers, dashboards, and observability views.

• Strong experience supporting Elastic deployments in AWS-backed environments.

• Familiarity with AWS services, including S3, compute, networking, IAM, monitoring, and cost management.

• Proficient Linux administration skills in distributed data platform environments.

• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and communicate effectively with engineering and business stakeholders.

• Preferred: Experience leading platform modernization or migration projects.

• Preferred: Experience designing multi-cluster or multi-region Elastic architectures.

• Preferred: Experience creating reusable engineering standards, patterns, and operational playbooks.

• Preferred: Experience mentoring engineers within enterprise platform teams.
