This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Develop the "Financial Tech Stack" tailored for new clients, determining how their sales channels (Shopify, Amazon, Walmart) should correlate with their GL accounts in QuickBooks/Xero.
• Establish Clearing Accounts and Holding Accounts to effectively manage timing discrepancies between sales dates and payout dates.
• Assist clients whose financial records are disorganized by performing historical data clean-up, identifying duplicate transactions, missing merchant fees, and unrecorded COGS (Cost of Goods Sold).
• Reconcile previous months' Amazon Seller Central settlements against bank feeds to ensure accurate financial records.
• Support clients through their initial three month-end closings.
• Resolve discrepancies in transactions where the payment processor (Stripe/PayPal) and the shopping cart (Shopify) do not align.
• Provide guidance on Sales Tax configuration (e.g., "Are you utilizing Avalara, or should we manually map the tax liability account?").
• Develop "Standard Operating Procedures" (SOPs) for the client’s internal bookkeeper to follow after your engagement concludes.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• Experience: Over 5 years of practical accounting experience, ideally in a "Client Accounting Services" (CAS) role at a CPA firm or as an in-house accountant for an e-commerce brand.
• Technical Accounting Skills (Must Have): Proficient in QuickBooks Online and Desktop.
• Familiarity with the backend of Shopify (payout reports), Amazon Seller Central (settlement reports), and eBay.
• Knowledge of e-commerce concepts: Gross vs. Net Sales, Merchant Fees, Chargebacks, Returns, and COGS (Cost of Goods Sold).
• Understanding of the distinctions between Cash and Accrual inventory accounting.
• Comprehension of Gross-to-Net logic: Understanding why a $100 sale results in a $96.50 deposit, and how to accurately record that $3.50 fee.
• Soft Skills: Consultative Mindset: Ability to clarify complex accounting concepts to non-accountant business owners in layman's terms.
• Patience & Empathy: Enjoyment in assisting others to solve problems and the ability to de-escalate frustrated clients.
• Bonus Points (Nice to Have): CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or EA (Enrolled Agent) candidacy.
• Experience with international clients (managing multi-currency/FX gains & losses).
