Senior DTP Specialist, Mandarin Speaking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Taiwan.

📋 Description

• Manage the DTP needs for our largest enterprise clients who have highly customized requirements, necessitating a deep understanding of the customer and their specific needs.

• Supervise account-level DTP quality, ensuring adherence to instructions and that quality standards are met across all projects.

• Collaborate closely with customer reviewers, project managers, and typesetters to ensure that final DTP deliverables fulfill all specified requirements.

• Perform thorough QA checks to guarantee that the final output is error-free, aligns with client guidelines, and complies with industry standards.

• Communicate clearly about design modifications, constraints, and timelines with both internal teams and clients.

• Address issues related to fonts, layout, image compatibility, and other design elements that may arise due to language adaptations or technical limitations.

• Implement design and formatting to translated materials across different languages, ensuring alignment with the source document and client specifications.

• Prepare files for translation by extracting and formatting content in necessary formats, including InDesign, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and others.

• Modify and localize visual components such as images, graphs, charts, and documents to suit target languages and regional specifications.

• Utilize DTP software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, FrameMaker, QuarkXPress, or other desktop publishing applications to create high-quality localized documents.

• Keep organized records of various versions of the same document to ensure accuracy in project delivery.

• Convert between different file formats as needed by the project while maintaining the integrity of the original layout.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in desktop publishing within a localization service provider (LSP) or similar environment.

• Strong proficiency in DTP applications such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, QuarkXPress, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software.

• A keen eye for visual design and layout consistency, ensuring high-quality, error-free output, with the ability to detect the smallest discrepancies between source and target.

• Experience in developing review workflows, conducting reviews, and implementing feedback.

• Proven track record in creating DTP quality frameworks, along with implementing and monitoring them.

• Familiarity with tracking feedback and updating instructions and team training materials accordingly.

• Fluency in the Chinese language, either in simplified or traditional script.

• Proficient in managing and organizing various file types, formats, and extensive datasets.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address issues related to formatting and design.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhere to tight deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced setting.

• A degree or certification in Graphic Design, Desktop Publishing, or a related area is preferred.
