Senior Director, Real Estate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive and strategic real estate market plan throughout the entire real estate lifecycle for the designated region.

• Take ownership of a core function/process within the Real Estate Department.

• Create and execute annual strategic initiatives.

• Manage the annual budget (if applicable) while controlling expenses throughout the fiscal year.

• Work in close collaboration with Real Estate Managers, Master Brokers (if applicable), local broker teams, and the Manager of Analytics to develop, refine, and execute the market plan.

• Partner closely with construction, design, facilities, finance, and portfolio management teams to ensure a successful store launch from site identification to opening and throughout the store lifecycle.

• Build strong working relationships with peer leaders in construction, design, lease administration, legal, and operations.

• Responsible for approving site selections for new store locations within the assigned region.

• Effectively manage broker representation in the assigned region to uphold necessary standards for executing new store growth plans.

• Actively mentor and coach all direct reports to support their career development and expand their skill sets.

• Conduct field tours with the executive team and key stakeholders to review potential and existing locations.

• Collaborate closely with legal counsel and dealmakers on lease negotiations within the assigned region.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a real estate/finance-related concentration is preferred.

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in the retail real estate sector is required.

• At least 8 years of experience negotiating leases, contracts, and similar documents.

• Over 8 years of prior experience in an asset management role for a national/regional retailer and/or a retail-focused commercial developer.

• Strong understanding of real estate practices and associated legal principles.

• Must be willing to travel as necessary.
