Senior Director of Engineering, Consumer AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop the Consumer AI Strategy

• Collaborate with Product and Executive Leadership to pinpoint the most valuable AI opportunities within the consumer sector.

• Build AI Capabilities

• Create the teams, operating models, and technical infrastructure necessary for developing and scaling AI-driven experiences.

• Deliver Trustworthy AI Products

• Ensure that AI-driven experiences are secure, dependable, privacy-conscious, explainable, and in line with customer expectations.

• Cultivate Leaders

• Recruit, mentor, and nurture engineering leaders who can thrive in a swiftly changing AI environment.

• Promote Cross-Functional Alignment

• Collaborate with Security, Privacy, Legal, Design, Product, and GTM teams to synchronize priorities and execution.

• Shape Long-Term Strategy

• Assist in defining the role of AI in 1Password's long-term product and business strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience in software engineering

• More than 5 years of experience leading large engineering teams

• Proven experience in spearheading AI-driven product initiatives

• Background in high-growth SaaS environments

• Deep understanding of contemporary AI systems and product development

• Experience in balancing experimentation with operational discipline

• A strong systems-thinking approach

• Ability to guide senior technical leaders effectively

• Track record of successfully leading other leaders

• Excellent talent judgment

• Experience in organizational design

• Capability to build high-performing teams

• Skill in connecting technology strategy to customer outcomes

• Strong judgment in prioritization

• Experience working closely with Product and Design teams

• Understanding of security-sensitive environments

• Strong instincts regarding privacy

• Ability to balance innovation with customer trust

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
