Staff Developer, SDLC Foundations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Play a crucial role in defining how 1Password engineers reliably and safely build and deliver features at scale.

• Propel the advancement of the Feature Rollout Service (FRS) from a client-oriented flag centralization service to comprehensive service-to-service communication.

• Oversee the architecture and implementation of the Experiment Platform (Horizon 1), allowing 1Password teams to conduct consistent and trustworthy experiments across product surfaces.

• Collaborate with platform and product engineering teams to launch Typeshare 2.0, enhancing cross-language type safety and developer ergonomics.

• Enhance the developer experience through organizational chart automation, schema type refactoring, and tools that minimize friction and reduce toil for engineering teams.

• Set technical guidelines and best practices to ensure that platform velocity does not compromise reliability, security, or operational maturity.

• Mentor engineers and elevate the technical standards for platform thinking across the organization.

• Shape roadmap decisions by grounding strategy in technical constraints and infrastructure opportunities.

• Remain actively involved in implementation tasks where architectural depth is essential.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience in a production SaaS environment.

• Practical experience in creating and evolving platform-level services: feature flagging systems, schema management, developer tooling, or experimentation infrastructure.

• Proven track record of designing scalable backend services and APIs that span multiple product surfaces and teams.

• Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives that necessitate alignment among frontend, backend, platform, and product stakeholders.

• Proficiency in Go.

• Demonstrated capability to influence engineering direction beyond your immediate team and to autonomously progress ambiguous, high-impact challenges.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to foster shared understanding among engineering, product, and infrastructure stakeholders regarding complex technical decisions.
