
Senior Director, Media Analytics, Commercial Strategy – Acceleration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +18 more states.
• Take charge of the comprehensive media analytics strategy and roadmap for Instacart Ads, setting reliable measurement standards that quantify incrementality, enhance performance, and guide advertiser investment choices.
• Lead, develop, and expand a team of approximately 30 individuals (including managers and senior individual contributors) across client analytics, measurement science, experimentation, and commercialization; attract exceptional talent and nurture an inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Create and standardize frameworks for causal inference, geo and audience experiments, marketing mix modeling (MMM), attribution, creative effectiveness, and audience insights; collaborate with Ads R&D and Data Science to operationalize models and reporting on a large scale.
• Work closely with Brand Partnerships and Sales to produce engaging, client-ready narratives that simplify complex analytics into clear business outcomes, thereby increasing advertiser investment.
• Implement data governance, quality, and privacy-compliant measurement practices; represent Instacart in industry organizations to promote retail media standards and third-party interoperability.
• Define and oversee OKRs, operational rhythms, resource allocation, and prioritization across a range of analytics initiatives, concentrating the team on the most impactful projects.
• Manage partnerships with third-party measurement providers (e.g., MMM providers, clean rooms) and integrate them with Instacart’s first-party capabilities to provide comprehensive, actionable insights.
• Over 12 years of experience in media analytics, marketing science, or advertising measurement within the digital advertising or retail media sectors.
• More than 7 years of experience leading analytics teams of 15 or more (including managers of managers), with a proven history of hiring, developing, and retaining diverse, high-performing talent.
• Proficiency in incrementality testing and causal inference, experimental design, marketing mix modeling (MMM), and attribution, with programs implemented at an enterprise level.
• Advanced skills in SQL and proficiency in Python or R; proven ability to assess methodologies, validate models, and maintain analytical rigor.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (such as Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering) and demonstrated experience influencing C-suite stakeholders at large advertisers (e.g., CPGs) to drive investment decisions.
