Senior Director, Global HEOR

📋 Description

• Recognized as a subject matter expert in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), responsible for providing internal consultation and developing HEOR strategies and leadership across cross-functional project teams to mitigate risks and drive success for Ultragenyx programs globally.

• Generate HEOR data to support both clinical development and reimbursement efforts, which includes the design, implementation, and analysis of HEOR studies.

• Actively collaborates and demonstrates leadership across the organization to ensure alignment on key HEOR endpoints, outcomes, and deliverables. Partners closely with internal stakeholders such as medical, clinical development, commercial, market access, endpoint development strategy, and management teams to formulate appropriate HEOR strategies that support global development and reimbursement plans across the US, Canada, EMEA, LATAM, and APAC regions.

• Identify evidence gaps to inform strategic planning and lead the creation of new evidence strategies aimed at enhancing the understanding of target patient populations for UGX programs, as well as developing new evidence generation strategies to facilitate market access across global target populations.

• Review and provide insights on health economics and outcomes research pertinent to clinical development program planning, integrated evidence generation plans, and regulatory documentation, ensuring precision and scientific integrity.

• Exhibit leadership by influencing without authority across project teams, both internally and externally, and lead cross-functional teams for external collaborative research partnerships from project inception through publication(s) and presentation(s).

• Serve as Ultragenyx's Global HEOR subject matter expert at external professional and scientific meetings and forums.

⛳️ Requirements

• BA/BS in Life Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, or Health Economics, with an MA/MS in the same fields; a preference for advanced degrees such as PharmD, PhD, or MD.

• A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, specifically in health economics and outcomes research, with a preference for those with clinical background or research experience.

• Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, enabling effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and across various functions, including Medical Strategy, Clinical Development, Regional Market Access, Biostatistics, Molecular Diagnostics, Epidemiology, and Global and Regional Commercial.

• Demonstrated experience in health economics and outcomes research activities, including de novo evidence generation, economic modeling, contributions to clinical trial design and analysis, evidence-based synthesis from literature, and study design, data management, and analysis.

• Proficient communication of HEOR strategies and findings, both in written and verbal formats, is essential.

• Self-driven with the capability to work independently across multiple assets, while establishing credibility with colleagues and influencing decisions through strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

• In-depth technical expertise in HEOR principles, along with knowledge of analytical applications, displaying a sophisticated understanding of quantitative methods and the ability to interpret them effectively.

• Background in strategic planning and project management, with experience in working with cross-cultural/global teams.

• Prior experience in Gene Therapy and Global HEOR is highly preferred.

• Experience in Rare Disease is also preferred.

• Willingness to travel approximately 10-25%.
