This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Lead the continuous development of Affirm’s Enterprise Risk Management program to align with the company’s growth, complexity, and strategic objectives.
• Enhance enterprise risk governance, which includes risk appetite, risk taxonomy, and governance frameworks throughout the organization.
• Foster alignment of risk management practices across various business units while maintaining suitable flexibility for distinct risk types and operational models.
• Supervise and further advance key enterprise risk initiatives such as Operational Risk, Third Party Risk Management, Business Continuity, Issues Management, and Risk Governance.
• Ensure that programs are integrated, data-driven, and synchronized with Affirm’s overarching enterprise risk framework.
• Discover opportunities to boost effectiveness, scalability, and clarity through process improvements, data utilization, and tools.
• Create and refine risk analytics and reporting for executive leadership and governance meetings.
• Enhance the application of risk metrics, trends, and analyses to identify emerging risks and aid decision-making.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to evaluate risks linked to new products, initiatives, and strategic changes.
• Offer independent, objective challenges regarding key risk decisions and mitigation approaches.
• Assist the business in making informed, strategic risks while staying within risk tolerance levels.
• Promote a thoughtful, risk-aware decision-making culture across the organization through robust partnership, communication, and engagement.
• Drive enterprise-wide risk initiatives that necessitate coordination among multiple teams.
• Lead high-impact projects that enhance the effectiveness and scalability of enterprise risk management.
• Develop and mentor a team of risk professionals.
• Set clear priorities, operational rhythms, and performance standards.
• Scale the function’s influence in accordance with Affirm’s growth and evolving requirements.
• 12–15+ years of experience in financial services, fintech, or technology sectors, with extensive expertise in leading risk, audit, compliance, or related business or strategic operating functions.
• Proven track record of leading and enhancing enterprise risk frameworks and programs in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.
• Strong strategic mindset and business acumen with the capability to connect risk management to business goals and leadership decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and achieve alignment across functions without direct authority.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills with the capacity to translate complex data into clear insights and actionable strategies.
• History of leading and nurturing high-performing teams.
• Experience collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and data-focused teams is strongly preferred.
