
Senior Director, Engineering Operations – Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the team responsible for how Vida constructs, delivers, secures, and manages its technology.
• Oversee testing strategies and automation, CI/CD processes, infrastructure as code, cloud platforms, and developer environments.
• Establish and enforce quality standards and deployment procedures.
• Enhance developer productivity, ensure build and deployment reliability, and reduce time to recovery.
• Manage corporate IT, identity and access management, endpoint and device management, as well as SaaS and vendor security.
• Function as Vida's Security Officer, overseeing policy, risk assessment, security awareness, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Serve as the executive contact for customer security diligence, questionnaires, and audits.
• Develop and lead the security roadmap while recruiting necessary security personnel.
• Oversee client data, eligibility, and data-feed operations, focusing on reliability, monitoring, and automation.
• Handle Tier 2/3 technical escalations from Customer Success with defined SLAs.
• Transform the support-oriented function into an engineering-focused organization through tooling, standards, automation, and career development.
• Manage incident responses for customer-facing issues, including on-call duties, escalation paths, incident command, and postmortems.
• Establish shared operating standards, incident processes, health definitions, and metrics reviewed by leadership.
• Define and communicate reliability and security metrics.
• Mentor Managers and Senior Engineers, assess team capabilities, and recruit to fill any gaps.
• Transition Production Operations into Engineering without compromising customer commitments.
• Set SLA and prioritization agreements with Customer Success to lessen manual workload.
• Publish a prioritized security roadmap, evaluate security posture and gaps, and unify on-call and incident procedures.
• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, including more than 4 years leading multiple teams and mentoring Engineering Managers.
• Direct responsibility for DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform, or engineering operations at significant scale, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP).
• Proven experience managing a customer-facing production operations, integrations, or technical support function with real SLAs and tangible consequences for failures.
• Demonstrated experience in incident management and on-call responsibilities for production systems, including leading incidents and implementing durable fixes.
• Experience in a regulated environment: HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST, PCI, or similar, with sufficient knowledge to take ownership of a security program with appropriate support.
• Proven capability to assimilate and restructure a team inherited from another part of the organization, including the change management necessary for lasting impact.
• Comfort with a wide range of expertise across quality engineering, infrastructure, corporate IT, security, and customer-facing operations.
• Must possess authorization to work in the U.S.; Vida cannot sponsor work visas.
• Employees are required to reside in and be able to work from the U.S.; international work is not permitted.
• Preferred: Previous experience as a designated Security Officer, Information Security Officer, or equivalent role.
• Preferred: Technical leadership in a SOC 2 Type II or HITRUST certification initiative.
• Preferred: Experience in healthcare data integration involving eligibility files, 834/837, HL7, FHIR, claims, or similar enterprise data exchange.
• Preferred: Leadership in quality engineering with a background in developing a test automation strategy.
• Preferred: Corporate IT management experience at a company that has scaled beyond several hundred employees.
• Preferred: Experience in virtual care, digital health, or another setting where both clinical and enterprise requirements are applicable.
