This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and develop the AI/ML Engineering team while overseeing collaboration among contributors, including data scientists, on joint projects.

• Design, implement, and manage the core AI/ML platform, which includes agent frameworks, evaluation harnesses, labeling systems, document processing systems, semantic search, knowledge bases, model hosting, and more.

• Operate AI/ML systems at scale in production with a focus on reliability, observability, performance, and incident response. Foster a culture of operational excellence.

• Establish processes to transform proof-of-concept code from Data Science into production-ready services.

• Collaborate with the Chief AI Officer and Product Manager to develop a forward-thinking product strategy. Encourage structured thinking amidst uncertainty.

• Conduct efficient, streamlined stand-ups across engineering and data science teams. Engage in capacity planning to enhance predictability and velocity in delivery.

• Provide guidance to ensure the cross-functional team leverages AI technologies to boost team excellence in coding, PR reviews, testing, observability, and incident response. Stay updated on the latest advancements in LLM/agent technologies and modern AI/ML infrastructure.


⛳️ Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• Over 5 years of experience managing teams of approximately 8 or more engineers with hands-on technical leadership.

• More than 8 years of direct technical contributor experience in backend services.

• At least 3 years specifically developing AI/ML production-grade services at scale for various use cases, with direct collaboration with data science and engineering teams.

• Proficient in Java, Scala, Rust, or similar backend languages, in addition to Python.

• Knowledgeable about the requirements to productize ML/AI platforms, including workflows, serving, observability, reliability, and scalability.

• Sufficiently fluent in data science concepts to effectively collaborate with data science leadership.

• Strong communicator who is organized and proactive.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking the initiative.
