Senior Director – Deployment, Quality Assurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Lead the deployment operations for the enterprise across all product lines, focusing on CI/CD pipeline strategies, release management, infrastructure-as-code practices, and deployment processes. This ensures secure, scalable, and highly available environments while minimizing customer impact during releases and system updates.

• Direct and develop teams in Deployment, Systems Engineering, Database Administration, and Quality Assurance to support both cloud and on-premise environments, enhance operational excellence, and guarantee reliable delivery of products and services across the portfolio.

• Propel the transformation of the Quality Assurance function by implementing an automation-first testing strategy, increasing automated test coverage, shortening regression testing cycles, creating staging and performance testing environments, and utilizing AI-assisted testing capabilities to enhance quality, efficiency, and defect detection.

• Oversee internal technology operations, which include business application provisioning, employee systems, networks, endpoint management, security controls, infrastructure capacity planning, cost optimization initiatives, and technology vendor relationships to bolster organizational performance, scalability, and security requirements.

• Establish and monitor operational and quality performance standards, such as SLAs, SLOs, uptime, deployment frequency, change failure rates, quality metrics, testing effectiveness, incident response, and other key performance indicators to support business objectives and foster continuous improvement.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Technology leadership to integrate quality and reliability practices throughout the software development lifecycle, advocate for shift-left testing methodologies, and ensure alignment between business priorities and technology delivery.

• Work alongside Security, Compliance, and Technology leaders to guarantee that infrastructure, deployment processes, and quality practices meet organizational security, privacy, regulatory, and compliance standards.

• Develop and manage departmental budgets, workforce planning, organizational design, and technology investments, ensuring resources, tools, and processes effectively back business growth and operational objectives.

• Supervise disaster recovery, business continuity, backup, and resiliency strategies to ensure that business-critical systems remain secure, available, and recoverable.

• Establish and refine operating models, governance structures, decision-making processes, service ownership expectations, and accountability frameworks across the Deployment and Quality Assurance functions.

• Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, innovation, and continuous improvement while mentoring leaders and team members, establishing clear ownership models, and encouraging effective cross-functional partnerships among Deployment, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Product organizations.

• Communicate deployment, operational, and quality strategies, performance metrics, risks, roadmaps, and transformation initiatives to executive leadership and key stakeholders, offering transparency into progress, outcomes, and future opportunities.

• Travel to orientations, industry or company events, or other onsite meetings as necessary.

• Perform additional duties or tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; an advanced degree is preferred.

• Strategic and progressive experience in leading technology organizations across DevOps, Infrastructure, Architecture, Engineering, Deployment Operations, and/or Quality Assurance, with a background in senior leadership roles, preferably within SaaS, healthcare technology, or other highly regulated software environments.

• Proven track record of leading and developing managers, senior technical leaders, and cross-functional teams within complex technology organizations.

• Demonstrated success in leading and scaling technical operations and quality assurance functions, including driving organizational transformation, operational excellence, reliability, and software quality initiatives.

• Proven experience in supporting high-availability SaaS applications and mission-critical customer environments, with a successful record of driving operational reliability and platform scalability.

• Strong background in cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code practices, deployment operations, database administration, and modern software delivery methodologies.

• Working knowledge of AI-driven technologies, automation tools, and machine learning-enabled practices relevant to deployment operations, quality assurance, testing, and engineering effectiveness.

• Proven capability to develop and execute strategic plans, establish operational metrics, manage budgets, and lead cross-functional initiatives that support business growth and organizational objectives.

• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills at the executive level, with the ability to influence senior leadership and effectively collaborate across Product, Engineering, Security, Operations, and other business functions.

• Ability to maintain discretion when handling proprietary and confidential information.

• Willingness to travel as needed, up to 20%.
