
Senior Director β AI Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing engineering team by cultivating a culture of aligned autonomy, effective communication, and continuous learning, while actively seeking top talent and establishing clear hiring strategies.
β’ Collaborate with stakeholders and product managers to grasp business priorities and convert them into actionable engineering roadmaps that leverage advanced AI capabilities for impactful results.
β’ Spearhead the design and execution of AI solutions, including LLM-powered decision automation, fraud detection, and process optimization, to enhance FICO's standing as a market leader.
β’ Establish best practices for model evaluation, governance, and monitoring to guarantee that AI systems remain accurate, dependable, secure, and compliant at scale.
β’ Develop and maintain systems for ongoing model monitoring, A/B testing, backtesting, and drift detection to ensure deployed models consistently perform at their peak over time.
β’ Work closely with UX designers, product teams, and engineering leaders to align AI capabilities throughout the platform and deliver a seamless user experience.
β’ Demonstrated experience in building and leading engineering teams to deliver advanced AI solutions, with extensive knowledge of Large Language Models and their application in decision automation, fraud detection, and process optimization.
β’ A proven history of effective leadership, coaching, and mentoring that promotes innovation, accountability, and a high-performance culture in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
β’ Practical experience with model fine-tuning, in-context learning, and custom evaluation frameworks, as well as a strong understanding of backtesting, A/B testing, and drift detection methodologies to ensure dependable model performance in production.
β’ Strong grasp of model monitoring, governance, and compliance practices, with a dedication to responsible AI and the ability to design scalable, secure AI and data-driven systems that satisfy stringent production standards.
β’ Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements in AI-driven decision-making environments, along with a working knowledge of contemporary software engineering practices and design patterns.
β’ Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments and align engineering initiatives with broader business objectives.
β’ Thought leadership in AI and machine learning through publications, patents, or open-source contributions is an added advantage.
β’ 10β15 years of industry experience in software, machine learning, or data engineering, with a proven track record of leading complex, large-scale projects and applying LLMs to address real-world challenges.
β’ A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field.
