
Senior DevOps Engineer – AWS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and document a hub-and-spoke network structure (with SmartNet as the hub and Air Force bases as the spokes) that connects to AWS commercial services.
• Establish site-to-site VPN tunnels and secure connections for hardware panels located at each facility (2 ports/connections per site).
• Configure firewall rules and port settings to enable bidirectional communication between AWS and on-premises panels.
• Collaborate closely with Steven, the internal technical resource, to develop, document, and standardize the process.
• Generate documentation that meets the requirements for Air Force RMF (Risk Management Framework) and ATO submission.
• Design with future scalability in mind, including provisions for CCTV/video management, additional servers, and failover/redundancy.
• Proficiency in AWS networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Site-to-Site VPN, Security Groups).
• Expertise in network topology design, particularly hub-and-spoke configurations.
• Experience with firewall rules and port configuration.
• Knowledge of security best practices applicable to DoD and government-adjacent environments.
• Strong documentation skills, particularly for RMF/ATO compliance purposes.
• Familiarity with physical access control systems or IoT-related hardware.
• Prior experience with AWS GovCloud, as the organization is transitioning from that environment.
• Background in redundancy and failover architecture.
