This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Integrate both simple and complex Java/JEE and WebSphere applications into development, testing, and production environments.
• Develop and uphold standards for application deployment and integration.
• Design, create, implement, and support runtime architecture for intricate system landscapes.
• Automate deployment processes and manage configuration.
• Engage in project meetings, contributing to the design and implementation of middleware solutions.
• Provide architectural designs, diagrams, and recommendations during architecture meetings.
• Assist in project planning, estimation, and defining non-functional requirements.
• Evaluate the environment and propose and implement enhancements.
• Promote process improvements and innovative solutions.
• Review the technical operating environment to ensure compliance with corporate networking standards.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
• Investigate modern technologies to enhance deployments, uptime, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain architectural diagrams, policies, procedures, standards, and documentation for the operating environment.
• Serve as the technical lead for the Middleware team.
• Develop, maintain, and assess Disaster Recovery plans.
• Mentor junior engineers, encouraging continuous learning and technical proficiency.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
• Over 5 years of experience in DevOps engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
• Demonstrated experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins, along with release automation.
• Proficient in infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Experience with multi-account cloud architectures.
• Knowledge of observability tools including OpenTelemetry, tracing, metrics, logging, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or CloudWatch.
• Hands-on expertise with IBM WebSphere, Apache Tomcat, Glassfish, Payara, or WebLogic.
• Background in application performance monitoring, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability solutions.
• Understanding of SSL, load balancers, DNS, and networking basics.
• Familiarity with LoadRunner, RFHUTIL, or JUnit.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
• Strong skills in documentation, architectural diagramming, and technical leadership.
• Security-first mindset involving SAST/DAST, secrets scanning, OIDC/OAuth, and RBAC.
• Availability to work overtime, weekends, and irregular hours.
