Senior Development Officer

📋 Description

• Create and compose engaging, substantive, outcomes-focused grant proposals and reports, working collaboratively across programs to craft project narratives, objectives, and deliverables that are in line with CIEL’s mission, strategic goals, and capabilities.

• Collaborate with the finance department to adhere to grant budgeting and reporting timelines.

• Work together with relevant staff to align donor interests with grant deliverables, distill pertinent information for proposals and reports, manage the drafting processes and review cycles, and deliver high-quality, timely final products to foundation and government funders.

• Ensure adherence to all applicable internal and external deadlines and standards.

• Manage a portfolio of institutional donors, partnering with Leadership and program staff to nurture these relationships and enhance funding potential.

• Identify new opportunities and develop engagement strategies to cultivate foundation donors and secure additional support.

• Guarantee the on-time submission of proposals, renewals, and reporting requirements for existing and potential grants (including both project-based and general operating assistance).

• Contribute to and assist in processes and procedures that enhance the efficiency of the development team and its interactions with the broader organization.

• Update records and information within the CRM system.

• Organize grant files according to established protocols.

• Maintain timesheets and ensure timely submissions.

• Meet periodically as requested with the supervisor and other team members.

• Take part in weekly staff and team meetings, as well as other organizational activities, including an annual staff performance review.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an institutional development/fundraising position.

• Demonstrated success in securing grants in the mid to upper six-figure range and managing a portfolio of grants with competing deadlines.

• Strong grant writing abilities, including previous experience with grants for both projects and general operating support.

• Capability to understand and interpret grant budgets.

• Outstanding communication skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to articulate complex subjects clearly and persuasively, both in written and verbal forms.

• Proficiency in managing multiple priorities simultaneously, including strong planning and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

• Competence in working and communicating effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and communication styles.

• Sound judgment in managing confidential donor information.

• Ability to work independently as well as in close collaboration with a team.
