Senior Development Manager

📋 Description

• Oversee the development strategy, process, and project management for the Global Industry Hub in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and program colleagues, ensuring alignment with current funders while facilitating the acquisition of future prospects. This encompasses key activities such as:

• Administering funder stewardship initiatives, including drafting proposals, generating funder reports, coordinating field visits, and organizing events for existing supporters.

• Executing prospect acquisition strategies by maintaining prospect lists and aiding in other cultivation and solicitation tactics, conducting prospect research, creating moves management plans, and developing marketing materials along with program portfolio offerings.

• Maintaining a thorough understanding of Global Industry Hub program content, objectives, and areas where funder alignment can occur within the broader development landscape.

• Leading the coordination with the Program and Finance teams at ClimateWorks to monitor progress against grant activities and outcomes, review grant awards, and report on expenses for core support funders and select priority programs.

• Directing the collaboration between Development and Finance on budget reporting and related tasks.

• Drafting contact reports summarizing discussions, meetings, and events with relevant funders and prospects.

• Creating and compiling reports for the funding pipeline of select priority programs.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.

• Over 10 years of experience in a dynamic development or fundraising role. Experience in an environmental organization is advantageous. Global experience is also a plus.

• Direct experience managing a portfolio of high-value individual and institutional funders. Experience with capital campaigns is beneficial.

• Proven track record in proposal and grant writing.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, capable of engaging with funders, intermediaries, executive teams, and colleagues at all levels of seniority.

• Strong critical thinking, research, analytical, and organizational skills, with the capacity to handle sensitive matters discreetly and an understanding of donor confidentiality concerns.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally is essential.

• Demonstrated experience in applying sound development processes, including the use of fundraising databases. Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.

• A proactive attitude, with the ability to help problem-solve and work cross-functionally with colleagues and stakeholders to support both short-term and long-term development and organizational objectives.

• Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
