Senior Developer – Platform, Developer Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for GitHub at Jane, managing over 900 repositories and 300+ developers across various organizations.

• Establish operational and security standards for GitHub.

• Configure repository creation, implement branch protections, define rulesets, manage required reviews, enable secret scanning, and enforce least-privilege access.

• Develop golden paths that promote safe configurations as the standard.

• Automate the detection of configuration drift, compliance reporting, and guided enforcement using bots and dashboards.

• Collaborate with Platform Security regarding access controls, secret management, and alerting processes.

• Lead a phased change management initiative and provide migration support to ensure 100% repository compliance within a year.

• Expand the operational model to include Jira, Datadog, JFrog, and other software development lifecycle tools.

• Play a key role in defining the operational procedures and growth of the new Developer Operations team.

• Work closely with teams in Security, Delivery Engineering, Backend Foundations, Developer Acceleration, and additional groups.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience in managing developer tooling at an organizational level.

• Solid background in GitHub administration, encompassing organization and enterprise settings, rulesets and branch protections, GitHub Apps and integrations, Actions, SSO/SCIM, access management, secret scanning and code security, as well as audit logs.

• Experience in owning platforms relied upon by other engineers, including both managed SaaS and self-hosted tools.

• Proficiency in configuration as code using Terraform and the GitHub API.

• Scripting skills in Bash, Python, TypeScript, or similar languages.

• Comfortable hosting and operating tools in AWS, with a preference for experience with EKS.

• Security-oriented mindset, focusing on least privilege principles and effective secret management.

• Ability to establish baselines, work independently, and influence teams without formal authority.

• Familiarity with AI coding tools, particularly Claude and Cursor.

• Candidates must currently reside in Canada and possess the legal right to work there without employer sponsorship.
