This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Define, enhance, and maintain Niche’s visual language and component library, which includes typography, color, iconography, and UI patterns.
• Design and refine reusable components, tokens, and interaction patterns that allow teams to create consistent, high-quality experiences across both web and mobile platforms.
• Introduce atomic design principles into our systems and guidelines.
• Possess strong working fluency in modern front-end concepts (primitives, semantic and component-level tokens, states, responsive behavior).
• Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure a smooth transition of components from design to implementation, leveraging your technical knowledge to discuss trade-offs.
• Enhance the contribution model to empower teams to propose, develop, and scale new components based on real product use cases.
• Create clear documentation, guidelines, and tools that assist teams in confidently adopting and utilizing the design system.
• Champion accessibility, usability, and design quality throughout the system.
• Align with our brand guidelines to ensure consistency in how we present ourselves to users at every touchpoint.
• Support and mentor product teams using the system through reviews, feedback, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Proactively identify areas for improvement within the system and drive enhancements with a strong bias for action.
• Act as a proponent for systems thinking and consistency across the design organization.
• 6+ years of relevant experience, with a proven history of helping to set the vision and strategy for design systems, driving adoption, and measuring success.
• Strong visual design and product thinking skills, with meticulous attention to detail across component states, interaction patterns, visual consistency, and accessibility compliance (WCAG AA standards).
• Strong proficiency in Figma, particularly with auto layout, nesting, constraints, responsive layouts and components, variants, properties, etc. We are looking for your assistance in exploring a transition towards Storybook + code while reducing our reliance on Figma.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted design workflows and design-to-code automation processes, including MCP servers and similar tools. Be prepared to set up your own EC2 and engage with code alongside us!
• Experience in designing for both mobile and web platforms.
• Experience working collaboratively with product management and engineering teams.
• Ability to balance system scalability with actual product needs, making considered trade-offs when necessary.
• Strong communication skills and the capability to articulate design decisions effectively.
• Resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment characterized by frequent changes and significant ambiguity.
