This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.
• Define and execute release schedules to meet both deadlines and business requirements.
• Oversee the release pipeline, coordinating the efforts of development, QA, operations, and support teams to ensure timely and thorough certification and delivery of each release.
• Manage the comprehensive release lifecycle, from planning and development through deployment and post-release support.
• Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and stakeholders to prioritize release content based on business goals and customer impact.
• Ensure all releases are aligned with the overall strategic objectives of the business, integrating new features, enhancements, and bug fixes into the release cycle effectively.
• Proactively identify risks and potential obstacles in the release process, developing strategies for mitigation and providing timely solutions to minimize business disruptions.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the release process, including senior leadership, product owners, engineering teams, operations teams, and customer support.
• Communicate progress, impediments, and risks to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring alignment and awareness.
• Provide regular updates on the status of releases and the implications of upcoming changes on business operations.
• Analyze the effectiveness of each release, identifying opportunities for process enhancements, automation, and risk reduction.
• Promote the adoption of industry best practices in release management, ensuring releases become more efficient and predictable over time, delivering real value to end customers.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to release cycles, such as release frequency, deployment success rates, and post-release defect rates, driving meaningful actions based on findings.
• Ensure all changes to production systems are documented, tracked, and managed following best practices.
• Supervise version control and configuration management processes to maintain consistency and traceability across releases.
• Manage and enhance the release management toolkit (e.g., Jira, GitLab, Launch Darkly, etc.) to support a streamlined release pipeline.
• Identify opportunities for automation within the release process to minimize manual intervention and enhance speed and reliability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
• Strong collaborative skills to work efficiently across various teams and departments.
• In-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), particularly in continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), and release management.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, with experience in handling multiple releases simultaneously.
• Proficient in Agile, Scrum, or other project management methodologies to effectively plan, track, and execute releases.
• Strong analytical skills with the capacity to identify potential risks early and address them proactively.
• Ability to resolve issues under pressure, maintaining a calm and solution-focused approach with minimal guidance.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Capability to manage expectations, negotiate timelines, and ensure alignment on release goals and outcomes among all parties.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field with 7+ years of related work experience.
• Proven track record of cultivating mutually beneficial relationships at all organizational levels.
