This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders throughout the organization to establish priorities and drive implementation efforts.
• Ensure that database systems fulfill all requirements regarding performance, availability, scalability, quality, and security to create world-class products.
• Deliver high-quality work products and advocate for quality standards, performance, and scalability.
• Investigate innovative technologies and maintain a competitive edge within the industry.
• Design and execute resilient and efficient database processes and solutions.
• Create custom stored procedures, views, or user-defined functions as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively.
• Debug and tune/optimize SQL code directly or indirectly from the application.
• Provide support to the Tier 2 development team with database requests as required (including bug fixes, production data manipulation, and feature testing).
• On-call responsibilities may be necessary, including responding to critical database alerts and escalating issues as required.
• A minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience in administering PostgreSQL databases.
• Advanced proficiency in MariaDB administration and optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of Pgpool-II for query load balancing, failover management, and connection routing between primary and standby nodes.
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL replication, performance tuning, and maintenance operations.
• Develop and maintain operational runbooks for PostgreSQL replication setup, failover recovery, and pooler troubleshooting.
• Automate database deployment and maintenance tasks utilizing shell scripts and infrastructure automation tools.
• Experience in performance tuning and a broad understanding of indexing strategies, In-Memory OLTP technologies, and best practice SQL standards.
• Hands-on experience in building processes for OLTP and OLAP processing.
• Support and promote data engineering practices within a multi-source data ecosystem.
• Ability to collaborate with SQL developers and resolve issues effectively.
• Experience in a microservice architecture with distinct data sources for each microservice.
• Familiarity with at least one industry-standard source control solution (Git preferred - experience with DACPAC is a plus).
• An intrinsic self-starter and adept problem solver.
• Agile experience is a plus.
