This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Manage, oversee, optimize, apply patches, upgrade, and resolve issues in SQL Server 2019 and subsequent environments.
• Ensure database integrity, availability, backup, restoration, and disaster recovery protocols, including routine recovery testing.
• Implement and support high-availability solutions like Always On Availability Groups and suitable failover architectures.
• Evaluate execution plans, indexes, statistics, waits, memory, tempdb, storage, blocking, deadlocks, and concurrency challenges.
• Establish database maintenance standards for consistency checks, backups, index/statistics management, job scheduling, retention, and capacity planning.
• Manage security through least privilege practices, role-based access controls, encryption, auditing, governance of service accounts, and access evaluations.
• Collaborate with developers and data engineers on schema design, stored procedures, query performance, releases, and rollback strategies.
• Automate operational tasks utilizing T-SQL, PowerShell, SQLCMD, SQL Agent, source control, and authorized monitoring systems.
• Direct database incident response, conduct root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and communicate with stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership for SQL Server migrations, consolidations, upgrades, Azure SQL adoption, and hybrid modernization efforts.
• Assist with Microsoft BI and integration tasks involving SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and Power BI connectivity.
• Maintain architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, runbooks, escalation protocols, and support documentation.
• At least 7 years of professional experience in database administration, with senior responsibility for enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Extensive production experience with SQL Server 2019 or later, covering installation, configuration, patching, security, performance, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in T-SQL with a thorough understanding of SQL Server internals, indexing, query optimization, transactions, locking, and concurrency.
• Practical experience with HA/DR technologies and validated recovery processes.
• Strong foundational knowledge of Windows Server, authentication, storage, networking, service accounts, certificates, and permissions.
• Experience in automating DBA tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, and source-controlled scripts.
• Proven ability to lead complex incidents and communicate effectively under production pressure.
• Capability to mentor team members, lead design or incident reviews, and document repeatable processes.
