Senior Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the performance of production systems utilizing PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.

• Identify and address issues related to execution plans, indexing, locking, blocking, and query performance.

• Develop and manage strategies for high availability, replication, failover, and disaster recovery.

• Oversee schema changes and database migrations without downtime.

• Implement large-scale data migrations and backfills through safe and verifiable methods.

• Ensure secure database access, encryption, auditing, and governance practices are maintained.

• Establish processes for monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.

• Provide support for reporting, analytics, and the performance of data warehouses.

• Strive for continuous improvement in database reliability, safety, and operational excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in administering production databases.

• Proficient in PostgreSQL administration.

• Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server administration.

• Advanced skills in SQL, T-SQL, and PL/pgSQL.

• Extensive experience with execution plan analysis and performance tuning.

• Demonstrated ability to lead production migrations without downtime.

• Strong expertise in high availability/disaster recovery, replication, backup, and recovery.

• Familiarity with AWS RDS, Aurora, or similar cloud database platforms.

• Solid understanding of security, encryption, auditing, and least-privilege practices.

• Exceptional written communication skills.
