Senior Data Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and sustain DLP controls across various platforms including email, endpoints, cloud, web, and collaboration tools.

• Engineer and refine custom DLP detection methods utilizing regex, Exact Data Matching (EDM), Indexed Document Matching (IDM), classifiers, and contextual telemetry.

• Oversee the entire DLP policy lifecycle, which encompasses policy creation, normalization, testing, deployment, tuning, version control, and change management.

• Analyze and prioritize DLP and insider risk alerts, perform root cause analysis, and suggest mitigation strategies to enhance control effectiveness.

• Collaborate with Security Operations, Incident Response, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Information Protection teams to investigate potential data exfiltration and insider risk incidents.

• Develop and improve automation workflows, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to enhance visibility into data movement, user behavior, and program performance.

• Act as a technical subject matter expert regarding DLP platforms and data protection capabilities throughout the organization.

• Convert regulatory requirements, business demands, and risk scenarios into practical, enforceable technical controls.

• Persistently enhance detection quality, operational processes, and reporting to elevate program maturity and ensure business alignment.

• Contribute to the assessment and responsible application of AI-driven security capabilities that enhance detection, analysis, and operational efficiency within data protection workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in information security, with at least 3 years dedicated to DLP engineering, data protection, policy development, or insider risk programs.

• Practical experience with enterprise DLP platforms such as Symantec DLP, Proofpoint DLP, Microsoft Purview, or similar technologies in a production setting.

• Profound experience in designing and fine-tuning DLP policies to enhance signal quality and minimize false positives and negatives.

• Experience in investigating DLP alerts, conducting triage and root cause analysis, and supporting incident response or insider risk workflows.

• Comprehensive understanding of data protection concepts applicable to structured and unstructured data, as well as endpoint, email, cloud, and collaboration environments.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience in developing documentation, playbooks, metrics, and reporting for stakeholders.

• Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and capability to function effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
