Senior Data Scientist – Fraud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Model Development: Create, assess, and assist in the production of machine learning models aimed at fraud detection; take ownership of their continuous monitoring and retraining processes.

• Experimentation: Develop and conduct experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of fraud interventions, balancing customer experience with loss mitigation.

• Risk Assessment: Analyze fraud typologies across our product offerings to guide prioritization and investment choices.

• System Maintenance: Design and uphold anomaly detection systems to identify new fraud vectors before they can expand.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with fraud operations, engineers, product managers, and data analysts to convert model outcomes into practical mitigations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A robust foundation in statistics, supported by a degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields).

• Over 5 years of experience in data science, decision science, or risk analytics within the realms of fraud, payments, or financial crime.

• Practical experience in building and deploying machine learning models within a production environment; experience in fraud, risk, or financial services is highly desirable.

• Strong knowledge of data science principles, including experimentation, statistical inference, model evaluation, and feature engineering.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL; comfortable navigating the entire model development lifecycle.

• An inquisitive nature, enjoying the process of exploring data to uncover patterns that may be overlooked by others.

• The capability to articulate technical insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders and convert those insights into actionable strategies.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional teams with high expectations for ownership.
