This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Investigate data sources and create innovative PropertyTech and InsurTech models through data science, incorporating machine learning and deep learning techniques.
• Conduct research, design, and deploy deep learning algorithms and architectures to derive insights from visual data such as aerial imagery and geospatial information.
• Spearhead the creation of high-quality datasets essential for effective model training and assessment.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to grasp requirements and convert product, engineering, and business constraints and inquiries into actionable data science challenges.
• Mentor and provide constructive feedback to members of the Data Science and Machine Learning team, promoting skill enhancement and knowledge exchange.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience utilizing machine learning methods in computer vision applications.
• BA/BS/BEng degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related disciplines; an MS or PhD is advantageous.
• Strong grasp of image processing, machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence principles.
• Extensive hands-on experience in designing and implementing deep learning models.
• Proven experience in deploying deep learning models within production settings.
• Proficient in Python, with experience in deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and associated libraries (e.g., OpenCV, Pillow, Matplotlib, Plotly).
• Knowledge of data preprocessing and augmentation strategies for large-scale image datasets (experience with aerial or satellite imagery is a plus).
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS) and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development processes.
• Experience with BigQuery and SQL.
• Experience utilizing generative AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and capacity to work autonomously or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and management capabilities, with a background in implementing best practices and processes.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and encouraging environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Must have legal eligibility to work in Canada.
