This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Take charge of data science at Rundoo from start to finish: transforming ambiguous business inquiries into clear objectives, providing thorough analysis on reliable timelines, and developing lightweight internal systems to ensure insights can be replicated.
• Deliver high-trust analysis within specified timelines: stakeholders have confidence in both the results and the expected delivery; assumptions and limitations are clearly stated.
• Convert business challenges into analysis and system requirements: refine vague requests into precise scopes, metric definitions, and data contracts.
• Create and sustain internal decision systems: deploy lightweight tools and workflows to ensure insights are reproducible and can be maintained by others.
• Collaborate with GTM teams: assist Sales/GTM in transitioning from “interesting analysis” to actionable steps (e.g., creating prospecting lists, designing territories, conducting experiments).
• Identify issues proactively: discover anomalies, incorrect assumptions, or misallocated spending without waiting for a formal request.
• Assist in fundraising readiness: contribute to a continuous, credible data pool and reporting that leadership can depend on.
• Over 5 years of experience in data science, analytics, applied machine learning (ML), or machine learning engineering (MLE) in a high-growth setting.
• Strong foundation in applied analytics and data science (statistics, experimentation, causal reasoning, forecasting, etc.).
• Proven capability to define ambiguous problems and guide stakeholders toward decisions.
• Proficient in writing production-quality code (particularly in Python) and developing maintainable internal systems (beyond just notebooks).
• Exceptional communication skills: able to articulate trade-offs, assumptions, and recommendations to non-technical audiences.
• High degree of ownership and autonomy in a fast-paced environment; capable of working without extensive processes.
• Bonus points: Experience working closely with Sales/GTM teams (pipeline, conversion, pricing, prospecting, territories, etc.).
• Bonus points: Experience in creating internal analytics tools on cloud infrastructure (familiarity with best practices, reliability, maintainability).
• Bonus points: Background in early-stage startups and/or developing "v1 systems" that are designed to scale.
• Bonus points: Strong ability in "structured systems thinking" and willingness to defend or adjust an approach when scrutinized.
• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage (100% of premiums for you, 50% for dependents).
• 401k plan with Betterment.
• Unlimited paid time off (PTO) along with 10 company-paid holidays.
• Gym allowance.
• Daily team lunches for in-office employees.
• Access to learning materials and audiobook subscriptions.
• Dog-friendly office located in Redwood City.
