Senior Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Create and fine-tune hierarchical demand forecasting models, accounting for seasonality, regression levels, and factors related to calendar, availability, and pricing.

• Design and execute backtesting and counterfactual analyses to evaluate decision-making policies.

• Implement rigorous statistical validation prior to deploying changes in production environments.

• Manage data pipelines at scale, ensuring reproducibility, quality, and traceability of experiments.

• Collaborate with Engineering and MLOps teams on the deployment and management of models, including MLflow.

• Work alongside business functions such as Procurement, Pack, and Assortment to ensure forecasts align with strategic decisions.

• Maintain structured documentation of decisions, experiments, insights, and outcomes.

• Lead comprehensive technical investigations from problem identification to actionable recommendations.

• Offer technical support and mentorship to junior team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Analysis, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience with time series analysis and forecasting techniques.

• Proficient in Python with advanced skills.

• Familiarity with PySpark in distributed environments, such as AWS Glue, EMR, or similar platforms.

• Strong statistical background in regression models, seasonality, hierarchical forecast reconciliation, experimental design, holdout testing, temporal validation, and counterfactual analysis.

• Experience with AWS, particularly S3, Glue, and Step Functions.

• Methodical approach to designing experiments, isolating variables, and establishing the conclusiveness of results.

• Excellent communication skills to effectively translate technical findings into business implications.

• Preferred: experience with MLflow, experiment tracking, and model registry tools, or equivalent MLOps solutions.

• Preferred: familiarity with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Preferred: background in the fashion and/or retail industry.

• Preferred: experience working with intricate merchandising hierarchies.
