• Assume full responsibility for the reliability of the data platform, which includes managing pipelines, warehousing, transformations, and observability.
• Architect, develop, and sustain resilient data pipelines utilizing Apache Airflow, orchestrating intricate workflows across both batch and near-real-time workloads.
• Oversee and enhance the main Snowflake data warehouse, focusing on schema design, clustering keys, materialized views, access controls, and stringent cost management.
• Construct and uphold the dbt transformation layer, covering model design, incremental methodologies, dependency management, and comprehensive documentation.
• Deploy and maintain data platform services on Kubernetes (EKS), independently managing workloads, resolving pod issues, and optimizing resource requests.
• Provision and oversee data platform infrastructure, encompassing Snowflake resources and Airflow, through the use of Terraform.
• Develop high-quality SQL and Python code for ETL processes, pipeline logic, and data product delivery.
• Manage PostgreSQL as the definitive operational database, concentrating on query optimization, indexing, replication, and migrations.
• Spearhead the shift towards change data capture (CDC) for data ingestion, leveraging tools like Debezium to stream database modifications.
• Implement thorough observability, SLA monitoring, and alerting across the data platform using Datadog.

• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering or a combined data and infrastructure role, demonstrating a proven ability to build production-grade data platforms from scratch.
• In-depth knowledge of Snowflake, covering schema design, performance tuning, access control, and advanced cost management.
• Strong, practical experience with dbt (modeling patterns, incremental strategies, testing) and Airflow (writing DAGs, managing dependencies, debugging).
• Advanced SQL proficiency and solid programming skills in Python for ETL and automation tasks.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, capable of deploying workloads, reading pod logs, and managing Helm charts autonomously.
• Extensive experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning, particularly for data platform components.
• Practical experience with Datadog for observability, monitoring, and SLA tracking.
• Knowledge of AWS data-related services such as RDS and S3.
• Proficiency in using AI-based development assistants for efficient code writing, reviewing, and debugging.
• Experience with Amazon Redshift is an advantage.
• Preference for familiarity with streaming infrastructure (Kafka, Flink) or open table formats (Iceberg, Delta Lake).
• Experience with Elixir or Erlang is beneficial.
• Understanding of data quality, cataloging, or lineage tools (e.g., Great Expectations, Soda, Monte Carlo, DataHub, OpenMetadata) is a significant plus.
• Hands-on experience with Debezium or similar CDC tools, especially in production environments, is a strong advantage.
• Experience managing EKS Spot instances at scale is beneficial.
• A background in healthcare, veterinary medicine, or similarly regulated sectors that demand rigorous data accuracy and auditability is preferred.
