Senior Data Platform Engineer – Azure, Databricks, Terraform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Play a key role in developing and enhancing a self-service platform that automates the provisioning of Databricks workspaces.

• Create Terraform scripts to deploy and manage infrastructure on Azure.

• Design orchestration and provisioning workflows using Apache Airflow.

• Establish data synchronization pipelines linking on-premises data lakes with the cloud platform.

• Ensure alignment between Databricks governance and on-premises data governance frameworks.

• Work collaboratively with the client’s engineering team.

• Participate in quarterly on-site PI Planning sessions in Germany.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with Databricks, particularly in workspace administration and governance/Unity Catalog.

• Proficient in Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices within Azure.

• Familiarity with Apache Airflow for orchestration and automation tasks.

• Understanding of data engineering principles, including the creation of reliable data synchronization and integration pipelines.

• Experience with Kubernetes, as the platform operates on OpenShift.

• Demonstrated senior-level independence, ownership, and capability to question technical choices.

• Docker and containerization experience is advantageous.

• Experience with GenAI on Databricks is a potential area for future development, though not a current requirement.

• Proficiency in German is not essential; English is the primary working language.

• Background in regulated sectors such as banking or financial services is a plus.
