Senior Data Engineer, PowerBI, Data Integration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with U.S.-based client stakeholders to design and define solutions. Identify solutions that address business challenges, converting requirements into technical specifications and actionable tasks.

• Develop code and implement the suggested solutions.

• Create data pipelines, including versioning and change management processes.

• Navigate the complexities associated with versioned data pipelines.

• Design and implement ETL/ELT processes to extract and manipulate data from various sources.

• Build and maintain batch or real-time data pipelines in a production environment.

• Automate data workflows such as data ingestion, aggregation, and ETL processing.

• Conduct logging and instrumentation of pipelines and services.

• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, privacy, security, and compliance through established quality control protocols.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven expertise with at least 5+ years of experience in a data engineer role or a similar position.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases and database architecture.

• Familiarity with cloud Data Warehouse solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Synapse, etc.).

• Strong Python programming skills with practical experience using Pandas, NumPy, and other data-related libraries.

• Experience with Big Data technologies such as Spark, Map Reduce, Hadoop, and Hive.

• Proficient in using data pipeline and workflow management tools, for example, Airflow.

• Experience with data visualization tools including PowerBI, Tableau, and AWS QuickSight.

• Knowledge of data engineering services offered by AWS/Azure/GCP.

• Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, EMR, GLUE ETL, Athena, RDS, Redshift, EC2, and IAM.

• OR

• Familiarity with Azure services like ADF, Azure Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2, and Azure SQL Database.

• Significant experience in working with Data Lakes and Data Warehousing solutions.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational capabilities.

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Ability to mentor other data engineers.

• High level of English proficiency is necessary for direct interaction with U.S.-based clients.
