Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and develop ingestion pipelines for high-volume payment data sourced from Stripe, PayPal, and Solidgate.

• Integrate marketing analytics utilizing GA4, GTM, Google Ads, and Amplitude.

• Incorporate operational data from MongoDB and PostgreSQL.

• Construct AWS and GCP infrastructure for a Lakehouse.

• Develop Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion-layer transformation models in dbt using BigQuery.

• Take ownership of Airflow orchestration from start to finish, encompassing lineage, sensors, backfills, retries, alerting, and the complete asset graph.

• Apply infrastructure-as-code best practices and implement cost control measures.

• Establish the foundational architecture for the data platform from the ground up.

• Collaborate asynchronously across different time zones while delivering results independently.

• Engage in the interview process, which includes a take-home assessment and a technical interview.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in building production data platforms and pipelines from the ground up.

• Extensive expertise in Airflow, focusing on lineage, backfill, and retry strategies.

• Practical experience with dbt and version-controlled transformations.

• Proficient in AWS and GCP technologies.

• Experience with Terraform for managing infrastructure as code.

• A cost-conscious approach to FinOps.

• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting.

• Candidates must reside within a ±4-hour range of the Central European Time (CET) zone.

• Proficient English communication skills are required.

• Preferred: familiarity with data mesh principles, domain ownership, or data product design.

• Preferred: experience with Lakehouse architecture and Starburst Galaxy.
