This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Design and implement scalable, efficient, and dependable data architectures.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and integration solutions for substantial amounts of structured and unstructured data.
• Enhance data pipelines, databases, data warehouses, and data lakes for optimal performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to comprehend data requirements and convert business needs into data models and solutions.
• Establish and refine data quality standards, validation rules, documentation, and governance practices.
• Execute monitoring and observability practices.
• Provide technical leadership regarding architecture, scalability, reliability, monitoring, integration, and extensibility.
• Lead and participate in code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Manage production issues, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, escalation, and long-term solutions.
• Independently oversee multiple features and projects, coordinate tasks among engineers, and keep stakeholders updated.
• Advance engineering tools, platforms, and practices.
• Utilize AI tools to enhance engineering productivity, analysis, documentation, and problem-solving.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with extensive expertise in data architecture, ETL, and database management.
• Proficient programming skills in Python or PySpark, along with experience in Java or Scala.
• Proven experience in building complex end-to-end data pipelines and data integration solutions.
• Strong SQL knowledge and experience with both relational and NoSQL database technologies.
• Familiarity with big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, or similar platforms.
• Experience with orchestration and scheduling tools like Airflow, Databricks, Jenkins, or comparable technologies.
• Proven ability to design and operate scalable, reliable, and secure data systems.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and their associated data services.
• Experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum, Lean, or Kanban.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical leadership within a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to work effectively across both technical and non-technical teams.
• Willingness to experiment with AI tools and a desire to learn.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience with Databricks or relevant certification (preferred).
• Familiarity with AWS Redshift, S3, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, or similar cloud data services (preferred).
• Experience implementing data governance, data quality, or observability frameworks (preferred).
• Experience leading cross-functional or multi-month engineering initiatives (preferred).
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools (preferred).
