Director – Practice Lead, Data Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Establish a long-term vision for the Data Engineering Practice, ensuring our technical capabilities are positioned to meet the enterprise demand for Data & AI transformation.

• Manage the entire P&L, encompassing pipeline, pricing, delivery margin, and revenue growth, while providing direct reports to executive leadership with clear commercial accountability.

• Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with Google Cloud partner teams and client executives to drive significant deal flow and enhance strategic accounts.

• Guide the practice's stance on ethical AI and data democratization, making principled, evidence-informed decisions regarding where advanced analytics and AI are delivering tangible enterprise value.

• Promote investment in reusable intellectual property, data accelerators, and delivery assets that enhance consistency, shorten time-to-value, and safeguard margins on a large scale.

• Act as a strategic advisor to C-suite executives at client organizations, assisting them in defining their data strategy, navigating AI adoption, and developing the organizational capabilities necessary for sustainability.

• Establish benchmarks for engineering and analytical excellence across the practice by hiring effectively, intentionally developing talent, and forming teams that clients trust and return to.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience in data or AI consulting, including a minimum of 3–5 years in a leadership or executive role within a practice.

• Demonstrated P&L ownership: Direct experience in managing revenue, margin, and growth objectives in a consulting or professional services environment.

• Depth in the Data and AI ecosystem: Strong understanding of modern data architecture, AI and ML trends, cloud-native data platforms, and enterprise data governance.

• Executive-level communication skills: Capable of advising, challenging, and building lasting trust with C-suite stakeholders on complex and ambiguous issues, not just presenting information.

• Proven track record in Business Development: Experience in generating pipeline and closing intricate, multi-stakeholder engagements, beyond merely managing delivery after a sale.

• Talent leadership experience: Successful in hiring, developing, and retaining senior data engineering and consulting talent within a practice or delivery organization.

• Relevant Certifications: Google Cloud: Professional Data Engineer, Google Digital Leader.

• Industry certification: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
