Senior Data Applications Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malta, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop comprehensive data applications utilizing AI, covering everything from data modeling and infrastructure to APIs and user interfaces.

• Convert data into internal tools, APIs, and self-service solutions for various teams throughout the organization.

• Collaborate within Databricks workspaces, dbt projects, and data pipelines.

• Contribute to defining the technical direction regarding application architecture, APIs, data modeling, testing, security, and performance.

• Evaluate AI-generated code, identify vulnerabilities, and transform recurring problems into automated checks and safeguards.

• Enhance codebases and workflows to enable engineers and coding agents to operate more efficiently.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing production software for both backend and frontend.

• Strong background in AI-first development, frequently utilizing tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.

• Extensive experience in Python backend development, including APIs, authentication, and testing.

• Proficient in TypeScript and React.

• Solid skills in SQL and data modeling.

• Practical experience in data engineering, including warehouses or lakehouses, pipelines, and dbt.

• Familiarity with containers, CI/CD, and cloud deployment, with a preference for AWS.

• Demonstrated technical judgment and the ability to challenge designs to propose improved solutions.
